AMA Arenacross Rocks the Rockies With Two Nights of Unforgettable Racing Action in Loveland, Colorado

As the series reached its halfway point, both the competition and the crowd were at full charge; the stars of The AMA Arenacross Championship presented by Kicker Performance Audio brought Loveland, Colorado’s Blue Arena to its feet two nights in a row.

AX Pro Class

Following a commanding performance in Boise, MotoConcepts Racing’s Vince Friese kicked off the weekend with a dominating win in Friday’s first AX Pro Class heat, matched by Rock River Yamaha’s Michael Hicks and MotoConcepts Racing’s Ryan Breece with wins in heats two and three. AX Pro main one saw a dramatic conclusion with championship contenders Friese and Breece both docked positions for jumping under a red cross flag (dropping them to third and fourth, respectively), earning Rock River Yamaha’s Austin Politelli the race win. Friese secured the win in main two, followed by Hicks and Politelli – mirroring the overall podium for the night.

Night two saw Friese, Hicks and Breece sweep their heat races once again – leading into two exciting main events. Vince Friese took the checkers first in main one, followed by Austin Politelli and Michael Hicks. Main two saw another shakeup as Michael Hicks took a fantastic run at championship leader Friese, bringing the Loveland, Colorado crowd to a roar in an epic last lap charge that ended with victory for Hicks after a minor crash by Friese in one of the final corners. Hicks, Breece and Politelli completed the main two podium, giving Hicks and Rock River Yamaha their first overall victory of the season, and ending a streak of three overall wins for Vince Friese. Politelli and Friese would round out the overall podium for night two.

X-Pro Class

In the X-Pro Class, Michael Hicks swept the weekend as he edged out seasoned competitor and fellow X-Pro championship contender Justin Bogle with four straight main event wins, giving him top overall honors both nights. Hicks and Bogle were followed by young hotshot Kelana Humphrey with consistent third place finishes.

Kicker Clash

The track layout at Loveland, Colorado’s Blue Arena proved to play into the strengths of the internal combustion bikes and riders, as MotoConcepts Racing’s Ryan Breece topped the podium both nights, followed by Austin Politelli and Vince Friese swapping second and third from Friday to Saturday.
